My third year final major studio project is going to be a public information film for the National Autistic Society to raise awareness of Asperger syndrome. I have drawn a beat board (a brief storyboard) that I hope to expand on throughout the production of the project as well as coming up with the following narration:
Hello. My name is April Slocombe and I have Asperger syndrome. I was diagnosed with it when I was four and it has its ups and downs. The downsides of my Asperger’s include becoming anxious about certain social situations and showing frustration when people laugh at things I find unfunny. However, having Asperger’s also has its positives such as my interest and talent in looming, which made me contribute to the National Autistic Society’s Be Looming Amazing Campaign. I can also recite amazing facts about music and animation. Did you know that Sam Smith and Lily Allen are third cousins? Also names Walt Disney initially considered for the Seven Dwarfs were Chesty, Tubby, Wheezy and Awful. Despite the negatives, I will not let Asperger’s prevent me from living life to the full.
Whilst recording the narration/synopsis, its total time came to one minute and six seconds long, which was a bit longer than its recommended time. I would consider cutting out the facts themselves from this narration so I could include a voiceover at the end that says, "Be Asperger's aware."
