Like the series of PIFs featuring Daniel Davidson, a man with Asperger syndrome, this film is part of the National Autistic Society's Think Differently About Autism campaign. It begins with a train pulling up at the station and the station guard announces the train will be held for two minutes due to a signal failure. A passenger approaches the train and tries to open the doors until the guard comes up and repeats the message. The passenger walks away saying, "What? Not again! Typical," thus showing how a person without autism would respond. An on-screen caption appears and says, "So? How might a person with autism respond?" The first part of the film is shown again albeit with a few differences. The same passenger attempts to open several of the doors and shouts about wanting to get on the train and having a valid ticket, much to the amusement of another passenger, and becomes very anxious. His anxiety quickly worsens, especially when two station guards move him away from the train. Towards the end of the film captions appear explaining how people with autism may find it difficult to deal with everyday situations. I find this film very effective since it is based on true accounts of people with autism becoming anxious with breaks in their routines.
This film is not part of the Think Differently About Autism Campaign but it is an imaginative way to depict how a person with autism may experience sensory overload. What I like the most about this film is its use of animation to give life to the woman's mug the sofa, the cat and dog cartoon on the television (although their animation is basic) the wallpaper and the clock. Both films inspire me for my major studio project, although the negativities I highlight in my film differ from those in the films shown here.
