MD6003 Week 16 - Animation Job Role and Internship Research

I have looked on the Creative Skillset website jobs that I feel are most releavant to me after I've completed my master's degree at the RCA.

Digital Painter (Entry level)

Compositor

Layout Artist (2D computer animation)

Storyboard assistant (Entry level)

I considered these job roles because I have a good eye for detail, am good at 2D computer animation software such as Toon Boom, Flash and Adobe After Effects and am good at drawing. My organisation skills are also good for the storyboard assistant entry level job.

I have also looked on the Pixar site for internship positions. Interships are job-training programmes that lead students and graduates onto careers.

IdeasTap runs several creative competitions. The Sky Academy scholarship programme welcomes applications from visual artists, including animators.

Animation Base.png

Animation Base lists several animation job roles throughout the world. It also gives users the option to upgrade to Animation Base Pro.

Squint:Opera.png

Squint/Opera has a list of job roles and also offers work experience and internships. They also have a showreel that features a combination o live-action, 2D animation, 3D animation and hybrid animation:

Current jobs D&Ad offer include those for One Blood Awards Production Assitant (Digital) and One Blood Awards Productin Assistant (Non-digital). The company is also asking other companies and freelancers to enter their advertising competition that closes on 25th February 2015 and allows content of all categories. There is also a competition for the Professional Awards 2015.

Blue Zoo is an animation company that specialises in advertising and television progrmmes using techniques such as 2D and 3D animation, motion graphics and mixed media animation. Clients it has worked for include Just Eat, Huggies, Kellogg's and Lego. Programmes it has produced include Tree Fu Tom and Kerwhizz. Its current job roles include animation director and experienced Maya animators. It also has a LinkedIn profile.Here is Blue Zoo's showreel:

Sherbet animation is similar to Blue Zoo. Its clients include Irn Bru, Persil, Southern Comfort and Converse. It has also "produced short films and documentaries." It has a contacts page but does not include information on how to apply for jobs. Like Squint/Opera, their showreel includes a mixture of live-action, 2D animation and 3D animation and they also have a LinkedIn profile:

Tandem Films specialises in animated advertising and short films. Companies it has produced advertisements for include Orange Ribena and Irish Lotto. It has several showreels made by its animators and directors. Again it lists contacts but does not include any information on how to apply.

The London Animation club is an animation gathering for those who work in animation and are interested in animation. It usually takes place on the first Tuesday of every month in The Green Man public house in West London.
