Today the professional Italian music composer Enrica Sciandrone paid a visit to my university. She gave us some essential tips for composing an effective musical score and explained a few diffenent genres of orchestral music such as fantasy, comedy and drama (plus sub-categories such as crime, historical, epic, romantic and science fiction). Enrica also conducted a questionnaire asking us for our thoughts on two of her compositions and how we would interpret them.

The first composition was for a version of Cinderella that is darker than the Disney version. In contrast the composition made me think of two characters wandering through the woods and occasionally being chased by wolves.

How I completed the first questionnaire.

The second composition was for a cabaret performance with a cat and a mouse. On the contrary I pictured a battle of several people taking place in Ancient China.

Enrica is also a client for one of two live briefs, which involves producing an animation set to a professional musical composition for a film.
