MD6001 Week 1 - Modernism (Updated from 29/9/14)

Modernism occured from the 1900s until around the 1960s although it is argued it is still happening today. Examples of moderlist artists include Pablo Picasso and Wassily Kandinsky (pictured is Composition VIII from 1923), both of which used abstract detail and flat colouring in their work.

During the modernist period music and animation were combined, for example Erica Russell's Feet of Song and Len Lye's Rainbow Dance.
