As part of my major animation project, I have created a background and an animated version of myself as a child for the garden shot wherein I sniff some lavender. To create a background, I took a photograph of my paternal grandparents' front garden when I last visited them in Newport, South Wales and traced over it.

Tracing of front garden photograph
To create a child version of myself, I found a photograph of myself as a child, scanned it into my laptop and traced over my face and facial features. I scanned in a magazine page that had a blue dress on it, traced over it and added it to the tracing of my face. I also traced over images of lavender and children's buckle shoes to add to the childhood version of me and I drew my own arms, legs, shoulders and neck.

Production still of garden shot
Although my garden production still appears to be in 4:5 format as opposed to 16:9 and the composition differs from that in the animation, I have made the background 16:9 in the animation and have moved myself over to the left a bit to improve the composition.
