In preparation of my MA animation project, I have decided to look at existing works completed by MA animation students and determine if they were produced to a professional standard. They should also give me an idea of how to make my own work look more professional.

War Days by James McLoughlin (AKA Jambareeqi) at Sheffield Hallam Univeristy

War Days is a stop-motion animated short about an autistic young girl named Poppy who is trying to keep her head up during World War II. While Jambareeqi admitted his puppets were "cheap and tacky" I feel they were very well made in his unique style and the animation quality looks professional on the whole, particularly the character movements. The tiltes and transitions are professionally made as well.

Kimberley by Callie Booth at Sheffield Hallam University

Kimberley is a digital 2D-animated film where the titular character shows an intense interest in drawing as she grows up, which leads to her doing a course in the subject and persuing a career in book illustration. The animation is professional, colourful and smooth while the titles and transitions are also professional.

University of Creative Arts 2015 Showreel

This is a showreel of various works produced by MA students at the University of Creative Arts, Furnham. It consists of animations in various techniques such as 2D hand-drawn, CGI and cut-out. All the work in the video was produced to a professional standard.

University of South Wales MA Animation 2014 Showreel

This showreel consists of various works of animation produced by MA students at the University of South Wales. Techniques used include stop-motion, 2D hand-drawn and CGI as well as combinations of live action and animation.

Again all the animation is produced to a professional standard.

David Crump's Character Animation Showreel

David Crump is an MA graduate from University of Arts, London. He produced a short showreel of character animation. While the characters are very detailed, their animation is professional nonetheless.

Diana David's 3D Animation Showreel

Diana David is a graduate from Bournemouth Univeristy. Her showreel mostly consists of CGI animation but it also includes some sketches and a live action clip of a compositing test with a robot model. While 3D is not my specialist area in animation I still found the animation in the showreel to be professionally produced.
